Hi: I read that Einstein had an estimated IQ of two hundred. One hundred is average, but it is generally agreed that there are different kinds of intelligence, mathematical, verbal and spatial for example.

Average IQ of 80 is moron. 110-125, above average. Interestingly, I read that Sir Isaac Newton had an estimated IQ of 125...which is superior, but not genius to be sure. His mathematical IQ was undoubtedly much higher than that.

Above 150 is genius. There are also many ways of testing IQ, some considered more reliable than others. The Iowa test is easy to administer in mass, and is an old favorite. The Wexler test even has the subject play with blocks to determine spatial IQ and is overall the most respected- but it is tough to administer.

Creative people are not usually the most intelligent. There can be something very dumb about being very smart...like the genius who built a 4D cosmology on the law of The Conservation of Matter and Energy when there IS NO such law in 4D! Just like the rest of us, brilliant people are human, and prone to make mistakes. They may be maladjusted...or absolutely the best adjusted and interesting people you could meet.

Stephen Hawking, I would guess, at least has a mathematical IQ approaching 200, and his spatial IQ is very close to that...a plus for an Astrophysicist! Stephen has also handled his illness in a positively magnificent manner, and understands manners and social graces. If he complains about his condition, he does so privately.

Best Wishes, Sam Cox
